Wedding Favors

So now that you are planning a wedding, consider what to do for your wedding favors.  It can be tricky to decide on the perfect memento for guests of your special day. Depending on how many people are attending your wedding and reception, it can also become expensive. An idea that seemed affordable in the beginning may end up stretching the budget to extremes once it is created in large numbers. Even if you manage to keep costs down, creating your own wedding favors can be very time consuming and a little bit stressful if not planned properly.

Here are a few ideas if you are a little stuck on wedding favors.

Photo booth--A photo booth lets your guests take pictures of themselves and get a print within minutes at your wedding.  Average photo booth costs between $800-1800 depending on the company you go with, the number of guests and the upgrades that the photo booth company will provide.  You can save a few bucks and make the photo booth experience more memorable for your guests by making your own props like Venetial style eye masks, mustaches, feather boas, and fun hats and glasses.
Average of $2.00-5.00 per guest

Seasonal favors--if you are having an outdoor wedding, consider some season favors for your guests that will work well for your theme.  For example, a scarf or pashmina in your color theme for an early spring or fall wedding can help keep away the chill, or sunglasses in the summer to keep the sunshine out of people's eyes.
Average of $2.00-$5.00 per guest

Musical favors--if you and your partner are particularly passionate about music, consider a customized CD with some of your favorite tracks.  You can burn the CDs at home or outsource it to a company.  Add some beautiful touches by incorporating some photos from the engagement and a small thank you note.
Average of $1.00-$3.00 per guest

Edible gifts--who doesn't want something sweet or spicy at a reception?  Ideas for edible gifts include cookies, chocolates, mints, candy, tabasco, jam or even tea or coffee to take home.  You can go the DIY route and prepare the packaging well in advance with ribbons, thank you note or photos.  How about a small bag of M&Ms with the couple's initials on the bag?  Or a small box of truffles or chocolates?  Even a small sachet with a couple of teas makes for an elegant wedding favor.
Average of $1.50-$4.00 per guest

Bath favors--Send your guests home with a favor they will use and remember your wedding with.  How about a custom lip balm or bath salt favor for your guests?  These are easy DIY (comment below if you want to learn how).  You can also do handmade soap favors with a label wrapped with a thank you note.
Average of $0.75-$2.00 per guest

Dessert Buffet--give your guests small bags or boxes at the table to help themselves to a dessert buffet.  Guests can choose their own candies, chocolates, or even popcorn at the buffet table.  A small thank you note and photos of the couple on the bag or box make the favor personalized.
Average of $1.00-$4.00 per guest.
