Henna during Pregnancy

Henna during Pregnancy:  Why it's exciting, and how to keep it safe

One of Henna Art's favorite private appointments to offer are Belly Bump appointments!  Belly Bump appointments are usually scheduled for pregnant mommas in their third trimester, when the baby has already made a very cute round bump in the mothers' stomach, and involved decorating the baby bump with beautiful, intricate, henna designs.  On pregnant mothers, we insist on using our Signature Pregnancy Henna cones that are mixed with only gentle lavender essential oil.

Lavender is one of the few essential oils that are considered safe to use topically during pregnancy, along with some other essential oils like Ylang Ylang, Bergamot, Geranium, Lemon, and Sandalwood.  Many other essential oils are recommended to be used only when diluted with a carrier oil such as coconut oil.  These include (but are not limited to), Clove, Eucalyptus, Melaleuca (Tea Tree), Oregano, and Peppermint essential oils.  These are totally safe essential oils to use when not pregnant, but because caution must be exercised if one chooses to use them during pregnancy, Henna Art chooses to stick completely to Lavender essential oils in our Pregnancy Henna, which is completely safe during the whole pregnancy.  Always consult your doctor if you are unsure about other essential oils you have been using!  We promise that our Pregnancy Henna cones with Lavender will be completely safe for you and for the baby you are expecting.

Why include henna in your celebrations of this stage of your life?  Henna is used for ANY sort of big life change that calls for celebration!  Also, because the stain takes a few weeks to fade away completely, it can mark the exciting passage of time as the baby's arrival approaches.  Oftentimes, our Belly Bump henna appointments are a part of a mother and baby blessing celebration, baby shower, or can just be a more intimate and private appointment for just you to feel special and celebrated as you take the time to relax, let the henna release it's natural stain, and feel connected to your own body and your child in a sacred, private celebration.
