Henna Hair Dye Do's and Don'ts

Do's and Don'ts

Just like chemically treated hair there are dos and don’ts that should be followed to ensure your color lasts long, stays vibrant and your hair is kept silky and smooth.

Just like chemically treated hair, henna hair dye lasts up to 4-6 weeks, if not longer if taken care of properly. Here are a few tips to follow to ensure your hair color lasts and lasts.

Use a leave-in conditioner after you wash your hair. Be sure that the product you use is safe for colored hair. This will help lock in the moisture!

Shampoo less and condition more. Yes, shampoo less. Shampoo strips the hair of needed moisture and oils that the hair and scalp need. If you need to shampoo, shampoo with a sulfate free shampoo and use a deep conditioning mask at least once per week to lock in color and moisture.

Skip the “hot” showers. Yes we all love the soak in those nice hot showers, but those steamers are damaging to your hair and hair color. So skip the “hot” shower and rinse with cool water to help close hair cuticles and keep the color in.

Try a shower filter head. Just like filtered water that you drink on the daily, using a filtered water head in your shower can help to remove minerals from the water that could turn your hair brassy or dull.

Protect your hair from the sun. When outside enjoying the warm sunny summer rays it is important to use protection on your hair just as important as it is to use on your skin. Wear a sunhat or use a UV spray to protect your hair.

Ease up on the styling tools. This is a hard one for any girl these days but easing up on the hair tools is important for your overall hair care and not only for keeping your hair color strong and vibrant. If you must use a styling everyday be sure to use a protectant spray while styling to protect your hair from the damage heat can cause.

Change up your part. Changing up your part can help to make your roots less noticeable as your color grows out. It can also be fun to change things up from time to time as well!
